Running a US or UK-hours team from Pakistan: how time zones actually work

Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 all year. There's no daylight saving, so the gap to your office changes by one hour when your clocks change, and nothing else moves. Staff work your hours, which means some shifts are evenings or nights in Lahore. That's normal here: night shifts are a long-established part of the BPO industry in Pakistan.

How the hours line up

• United Kingdom: Lahore is 4 hours ahead in British Summer Time and 5 hours ahead in winter. A 9:00–17:30 UK shift runs about 13:00–22:30 or 14:00–23:30 in Lahore.
• Central Europe: Lahore is 3–4 hours ahead. EU hours are mostly afternoon and evening in Pakistan.
• US Eastern: Lahore is 9–10 hours ahead. A 9:00–17:00 ET shift is an overnight shift in Lahore.
• US Pacific: 12–13 hours ahead, also a night shift.
• Australia (Sydney): Sydney is 5–6 hours ahead of Lahore, so Australian business hours are early morning to early afternoon here.
• Gulf: UAE and Oman are 1 hour behind Lahore; Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait 2 hours behind. Almost full overlap.

Full overlap or partial?

Customer support, sales assistance and executive assistants usually need full overlap with your day. Bookkeeping, data work, content and development often work well with partial overlap: two or three shared hours for questions, then focused work while you're offline, with the results ready in the morning.

Agree a short end-of-shift note: what's done, what's blocked, what needs your decision. It takes five minutes and removes most of the friction people associate with remote teams.

Daylight saving weeks

When the US, UK or EU change their clocks, the Lahore shift moves by an hour to stay on your local time. In the few weeks when the US and Europe change on different dates, we confirm the shift time with you in advance.
